Job Description

Our client is a leading environmental consultancy covering ecology, asbestos and legionella control works, UK wide.

 

They are currently seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their growing Manchester based team.

 

The successful candidate must posses;

 

Educated to at least degree standard in an ecological/environmental discipline
Have at least 5 years experience, including within an ecological consultancy role
Have excellent Extended Phase 1 habitat survey skills, ideally with NVC and detailed botanical survey experience OR a specialised bat worker, with extensive experience of surveying and species requirements, an in-depth knowledge of the bat licencing process and implementing mitigation 
Be experienced in protected species survey and mitigation, and likely to have held EPS and other species development licences and have experience of the licensing process 
Have excellent report writing skills providing clear and concise information, including design of mitigation and habitat management plans. Experience of programmes such as ArcGIS, CorelDraw and CAD, or similar to produce high quality drawings and plans
Experienced in undertaking EcIA and possibly HRA
Confident in working with and advising a wide variety of people from ecological and other disciplines to achieve successful outcomes to projects

 

Your primary duties will include complementing the existing team structure and specialisms. With a strong emphasis on either Phase 1 habitat and botanical skills or an experienced and licensed bat worker, you will have a solid grounding in protected species work. Working within your team, you will manage a variety of projects, small and more complex, from planning initial surveys through to post planning application mitigation and works. You will provide support to more senior staff, as well as assisting more junior staff as they develop their skills and experience. Knowledgeable in current nature conservation law and policy you will be able to advise clients effectively and liaise with bodies such as LPA's, NE and WT's
